Academic Advising

Two people have a conversation in an office

What is an advisor?

Your advisor is a guide throughout your time at Centenary.

At SOAR, you'll talk about classes and build your first-semester schedule. But advising is about much more than course selection. Advisors help students connect with opportunities, resources, mentors, experiences, and people who can support them along the way.

The most important thing you can do is build a relationship with your advisor. Ask questions. Share your goals. Tell them about your interests, commitments, and dreams for your college experience.

What is registration?

Registration is the process of signing up for classes.

You'll register for courses every semester, and you'll do it yourself using BannerWeb. Your advisor will help you explore options, choose courses, and create a plan that supports your goals, but you'll be responsible for completing the registration process.

What is a registration window?

The registration window is the period when you officially sign up for your classes in BannerWeb. For SOAR 2026, the window opens on June 29 and closes on July 10.

Before your registration window opens, you'll meet with your advisor, explore course options, and create a plan for your schedule. During the registration window, you'll log in to BannerWeb and register for the courses you've selected.

After July 10, you’ll need to contact your advisor to make changes to your schedule.
